Summary
The Center for Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) is a research hub that comprehensively studies the societal impacts of science and technology, aiming to realize more sustainable and inclusive innovation. The RRI Center addresses themes such as Ethical, Legal, and Social Issues (ELSI), social acceptance of science and technology, and governance. It promotes collaboration with researchers both within and outside the university, industry, government, and citizens, supporting the development of research and technology development processes that reflect diverse values. Furthermore, by visualizing societal perceptions in cutting-edge fields such as life sciences (neuroscience, synthetic biology, molecular robotics, regenerative medicine, genome editing, etc.), robotics, and AI; conducting empirical research on social implementation; contributing to international rule-making; and developing human resource training programs, the Center aims to become a core institution driving the creation of responsible knowledge.
