Summary

The Health Commons Center is committed to communicating a vision for the future based on Sustainable Development Goals during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. It brings together a diverse range of stakeholders as a place of collaboration to build a joint research structure that can achieve this vision: cross-disciplinary collaborations between academic disciplines both inside and outside the university; collaborative innovation through corporate and financial partnerships between industry and academia; collaborations with local governments to solve regional issues; and collaborations with NPOs and citizens'groups.

The center will use backcasting to extract pressing issues from our vision and then set and implement R&D goals. Our goal is to transform social systems by applying research findings that encourage serendipity and innovation. Specifically, we have an interdisciplinary platform that integrates science with digital technology and data in health care, medical care, long-term care, and other fields to support the health and wellness of people in their daily lives. We believe that the transdisciplinary research, paired with the social implementation of new technologies that come out of this platform, will help us realize an inclusive social infrastructure where everyone is encouraged to participate and interact for their wellbeing. By building the Health Commons Center, Keio University is dedicated to laying the foundations for a society where no one ever has to feel alone.
