As the challenges facing society—including the progression of global warming and growing instability in international affairs—become increasingly complex, companies are also under mounting pressure to address social issues through their business activities and to adopt collaborative, co-creative approaches to challenges that cannot be solved by any single company alone. In the future of corporate management and business creation, where both social and economic value must be achieved, increasing attention is being paid to Systemic Design—an approach to innovation that seeks fundamental transformation by focusing on the interrelationships among economic, social, and ecological systems.

The Center for Systemic Innovation, Keio (hereinafter referred to as “the Center”) connects academic knowledge with practical challenges in society and business through Systemic Design. In doing so, the Center provides a platform for the real-world implementation of this approach and for collaborative business creation, while also engaging a diverse range of stakeholders in research and practical activities related to Systemic Design.

To achieve these objectives, the Center will engage primarily in the following activities through industry–academia collaboration:
