Keio University Global Research Institute (KGRI) co-hosted the Mystique of Luxury Brands (MLB) 2026 Conference from October 2 - 4, 2026, at Keio University’s Mita Campus, in collaboration with Curtin University’s Luxury Branding Research Collaborative (LBRC).
The conference was made possible through the longstanding academic collaboration between Prof. Akira Shimizu of the Faculty of Business and Commerce and LBRC, with Prof. Shimizu serving as a co-chair of MLB 2026.
The conference brought together 72 researchers and professionals from Japan and around the world to explore the evolving dynamics of luxury branding, consumer culture, and related topics. The three-day program included academic presentations and opportunities for international networking and exchange. The opening ceremony featured a Japanese calligraphy performance and was headlined by a keynote lecture on Kaga Yuzen by Yusui Toku II.
The event highlighted KGRI’s role in promoting international research collaboration and Keio University as a venue for global academic events.
This event was held as part of JSPS Program for Forming Japan’s Peak Research Universities (J-PEAKS).
