On January 26, Toshihiro Nakayama (Professor, Faculty of Policy Management) and two others spoke at the Foreign Correspondents' Club, Hong Kong, holding a discussion with foreign correspondents and researchers on the security of Japan and Asia.
Moderated by David Tweed (a reporter for Bloomberg) and following opening remarks by Motohiro Tsuchiya (Deputy Director of KGRI; Professor, Graduate School of Media and Governance), Toshihiro Nakayama (Professor, Faculty of Policy Management) gave a lecture on the challenges of Japanese diplomacy centered on Japan-U.S. relations, and Michito Tsuruoka (Associate Professor, Faculty of Policy Management) spoke on regional issues centered on Japan's defense policy.
As it is reportedly rare for Japanese experts on diplomacy and security to visit Hong Kong, the audience asked many enthusiastic questions and made several comments.
Organizer David Tweed expressed his hope that similar events would be held in the future, and it was decided that holding an event at another venue in Hong Kong would be considered.
