We will be holding the Body Seminar: "Is 'Losing Weight' a Good Thing?".
The Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion will hold a seminar titled "Is 'Losing Weight' a Good Thing?" as the 7th installment of the "Breeze Project - Support for Women's Bodies" Body Seminar series.
We will welcome Dr. Mikako Inokuchi, a professor at the Keio University Health Center. In her mini-lecture, "A Talk About the Body," she will discuss "The Dangers of Being Too Thin That You Might Not Know" from the perspective of the harmful effects of nutritional deficiencies caused by "losing weight."
Additionally, Dr. Nariko Katayama, an assistant professor at the Department of Neuropsychiatry, Keio University School of Medicine, will give a lecture titled "A Talk About the Mind" on mental health issues associated with eating disorders and malnutrition.
We look forward to your participation in this 90-minute session where we will consider if "losing weight" is really a good thing.

"A Talk About the Body"
The benefits of "losing weight" (correcting overnutrition) are well known, such as improving health problems caused by obesity. However, the harmful effects of "losing weight" (undernutrition) are often overlooked, and some people become too thin. I will talk about the dangers of being too thin that you might not know.
■ Dr. Nariko Katayama (Assistant Professor, Department of Neuropsychiatry, Keio University School of Medicine)
Mini-lecture
"A Talk About the Mind"
The desire to "lose weight" is something many people have. Are you finding it difficult to concentrate on other things because you are constantly worried about your weight? The onset of eating disorders often has a psychological background, and there are also mental symptoms caused by malnutrition. I will talk about these issues of the mind.
In the latter half, we will have a discussion and explore the theme while answering questions from the audience in a Q&A session.
We look forward to your participation.
