On July 28, Daniel Zajfman, Interim President and CEO of the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST), visited Keio University, accompanied by Amy Shen, Provost, Yoko Yazaki-Sugiyama, Dean of Research, and Hiromichi Magai, Associate Vice President in the Office of the Provost. The OIST delegation met with Kohei Itoh, President of Keio University, Toshiharu Saiki, Vice-President for Research, Nobuaki Shindo, Managing Director of the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OIE), and Kenji Yasuoka, Dean of the Graduate School of Science and Technology, to exchange views on strengthening collaboration between the two institutions.
Keio University and OIST signed an Agreement on Scientific and Academic Cooperation in 2022 with the shared goal of advancing science and technology through collaboration based on the spirit of mutual reciprocity. Both institutions have also been selected for the Program for Forming Japan's Peak Research Universities (J-PEAKS) and have been promoting broad collaboration in research, education, and innovation as partner universities under the program.
During the meeting, President Itoh shared his views on Keio University's founding principles and the values that have shaped its identity as one of Japan's leading private universities. The participants also reviewed the progress of ongoing joint initiatives between the two institutions. Looking ahead, they discussed further expanding student exchanges as a key priority and reaffirmed their commitment to fostering even greater cooperation.
Keio University and OIST will continue to deepen their partnership in research, education, and innovation while working together to strengthen research excellence across the J-PEAKS research university group.
