Former Faculty of Policy Management Professor Kazumi Ogasawara (1994 graduate of the Faculty of Policy Management) was elected as an Executive Committee member (Delegate for Asia) at the 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly held in Morocco, North Africa. This marks the first time in history that a woman from Asia has been elected to the Executive Committee.

Ms. Ogasawara currently serves as the Director of the International Police Center at the National Police Academy and Deputy Director-General (International Affairs) of the Commissioner General's Secretariat at the National Police Agency. Furthermore, from April 2020 to August 2022, based on a government-academic exchange personnel program with the Faculty of Policy Management, she taught as a Professor (Non-tenured) at the Faculty of Policy Management on secondment from the National Police Agency, contributing to the development of the next generation.

Upon her election, Ms. Ogasawara sent a message to Keio students and Keio University alumni, which we would like to share with you.

When I was studying at SFC, I never imagined that I would be standing in a place like this 30 years later. Looking back, however, I realize that several of the things I worked on—both the immediate tasks and those looking a bit further ahead—have led me here. At the core of this, the spirit of "learning while teaching, teaching while learning" and the "spirit of problem discovery" that I learned at SFC are firmly rooted within me.

“Nothing will work unless we do.”

These are the words I shared with colleagues from various countries during my election speech.

As part of Japan's international contribution, I will do my utmost to work with everyone around the world to make this planet a safer place.
