Keio University held its Open Campus 2025: Student Life Edition on Mita Campus from Tuesday, August 5 to Wednesday, August 6, attracting approximately 2,500 visitors over the two days.
The event consisted of two main parts: information sessions that provided an overview of Keio University, and student roundtables where visitors had the opportunity to interact with current students and ask about their experiences. The information sessions covered a wide range of topics, including Keio University’s educational philosophy, the differences between university and high school, and the diverse opportunities that make up campus life. Through the photos and slides shown during the presentations, prospective students gained a deeper understanding of life at a university and were able to envision more clearly what their own experience at Keio might be like after admission.
Then, at the roundtables, groups of about twenty prospective students sat around three to four current students, who shared openly about their personal reasons for applying to Keio and what their own academic journeys had been like. While the prospective students seemed nervous at first, their bubbling questions soon surfaced, asking the current students about how they approach writing essays, why they chose their departments and majors, what they thought were the strengths of Keio as a university, and other specifics about student life. The current students responded candidly and sincerely, which helped ease the participants’ nerves and filled the room with smiles and a warm, friendly atmosphere.
The event also involved special openings of the Mita Media Center (Library) and the Mita Public Speaking Hall (Mita Enzetsu-kan) where visitors could enjoy exploring the historic campus firsthand. The two-day event proved to be a summer highlight as Mita Campus basked in the excitement of prospective students who might one day make Keio their home.
