Delegation Led by University of Helsinki Rector Visits Keio University

On February 28, 2024, a 10-member delegation led by Professor Sari Lindblom, rector of the University of Helsinki, visited Mita Campus. Keio University President Kohei Itoh is a member of the International Advisory Board of the University of Helsinki.

The meeting began with an introduction of Keio University by President Itoh. Next, Vice-President Masayuki Amagai gave a presentation on cutting-edge research, such as those conducted at the Human Biology-Microbiome-Quantum Research Center (BiO2Q). Following that, Vice-President Kotaro Yamagishi showcased initiatives fostering investment in venture companies that capitalize on university research outcomes. After that, Project Professor Nobuaki Shindo presented on the current status of the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. After these presentations, Professor Teruo Nakatsuma, dean of the Graduate School of Economics, and Professor Toshiharu Saiki, dean of the Graduate School of Science and Technology, gave an overview of their respective graduate schools. Finally, Professor Yoko Hirose from the Faculty of Policy Management introduced her own research based on her research experience at the University of Helsinki’s Aleksanteri Institute.

This was followed by a meaningful exchange of opinions on a broad range of topics, such as strengthening cooperation between the two universities, addressing diversity, as well as matters of diplomacy.
