On July 3, a ceremony was held at the head office of the Bank of Japan where Kazuo Ueda, governor of the Bank of Japan, presented the final 10,000 yen note printed with the old design to Keio University President Kohei Itoh. Keio University had previously received the two other designs with the portrait of its founder, Yukichi Fukuzawa, printed on it―one from the 1984 series and the other from the 2004 series―from the Bank of Japan. Governor Ueda expressed his appreciation for Keio University's longstanding cooperation in publicizing the banknotes, such as through the commemorative exhibition of the second series of the 10,000 yen note featuring the portrait of Yukichi Fukuzawa. Governor Ueda then personally presented to President Itoh a 10,000 yen note with the serial number "ZE300000X" from the final production lot of the 2004 series.

The final print of the 10,000 yen note will be exhibited at the Fukuzawa Yukichi Memorial Keio History Museum for a limited time alongside the second series of the 10,000 yen notes issued in 1984 and 2004 respectively.
