On Wednesday, July 12, the Keio Research Center for the Liberal Arts held its "Information and Liberal Arts" lecture series at Hiyoshi Campus. The event featured a lecture by Kohei Ito, President of Keio University, titled "Independence and Self-Respect and AI."

In the first half of the lecture, various examples of technological innovation using AI were introduced, with a particular focus on the bottom-up control of AI use and the need for global consensus building.

In the second half, under the theme of "independence and self-respect," President Ito spoke to the students about the importance of "clarifying the founding principles of the nation, and not just speaking of them, but practicing them with your own body," a quote from Yukichi Fukuzawa. He drew upon his own experiences and the initiatives of Keio University.

The students also asked many questions, such as what actions they should take to realize their ideals, both as current Keio students and as future Keio University alumni, leading to a lively and enthusiastic Q&A session.
