President Itoh participated in the World Economic Forum (WEF; often referred to simply as Davos) held from January 16 to 20. The theme of this year's Davos, which marked its 53rd iteration, was
"Cooperation in a Fragmented World."The forum saw much discussion about how, in a world experiencing ongoing geopolitical and economic fragmentation, academia (represented by universities) and the public and private sectors can better collaborate toward building a sustainable and resilient foundation.
President Itoh participated in the Meeting of University Leaders: Global Cooperation in a Fractured Context on January 17, and was a panelist at the session "The Quantum Tipping Point" on January 18. He was joined by Amy Webb, professor at New York University (NYU); Jan Goetz, founder and CEO of IQM Quantum Computers; and Ana Paula Assis, General Manager of IBM Europe, Middle East, and Africa to discuss the potential of quantum technology.
