Shinzo Koizumi Memorial Lecture Held: "The Realization of Justice or Correct Interpretation? The Relationship Between the U.S. Supreme Court and Politics"

On Thursday, December 1, Professor Emeritus Naoyuki Agawa gave a lecture titled "The Realization of Justice or Correct Interpretation? The Relationship Between the U.S. Supreme Court and Politics" as the 2022 Shinzo Koizumi Memorial Lecture. The event was held at the G-Lab in the East Research Building on Mita Campus.

Professor Emeritus Agawa graduated from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in the United States and studied at its law school, becoming qualified to practice law in the State of New York and the District of Columbia. After working at law firms in Japan and the United States, he became a professor at the Faculty of Policy Management at Keio University. He has also served as Minister at the Embassy of Japan in the United States, Dean of the Faculty of Policy Management, and Vice-President of Keio University.

In the lecture, based on the history of the U.S. Constitution, he spoke about the relationship between the U.S. Supreme Court and politics, a topic that has recently become a subject of discussion in Japan. He also considered the role of the Supreme Court within the structure of the United States as a nation.

All participants listened intently, deepening their knowledge.
