On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, an agreement on the provision of arbitration rules and practical information was signed between the Keio University Graduate School of Law and the Japan Commercial Arbitration Association at Mita Campus.
At the signing ceremony, attended by the parties concerned, Dean Isao Kito of the Law School and Chairman Kazuhiko Bando of the Japan Commercial Arbitration Association signed the agreement.
With the cooperation of international arbitration institutions in Japan, China, and South Korea, the Law School will launch a new course in the spring of 2023 focused on learning the practice and rules of arbitration procedures at these institutions. To facilitate this cooperation, the Law School has decided to conclude MOUs with the Japan Commercial Arbitration Association (JCAA), the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB), and the Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC).
Students taking the new course will be practitioners interested in international arbitration practice and law school students who aspire to work in international arbitration in the future.
Learning about the international arbitration practices of Japan, China, and South Korea, where the number of disputes is rapidly increasing, will be a valuable opportunity to gain knowledge and experience directly applicable to the future of arbitration practice.
