On June 8–9, the U7+ Alliance Presidential Summit was hosted by the Université Côte d'Azur, France. In addition to President Itoh, presidents of member universities worldwide, with an emphasis on those from G7 countries, gathered to affirm their commitment to the unique roles and responsibilities of their universities while working together as an alliance to contribute to solving regional and global challenges.
Following the meeting, on June 24, the U7+ Alliance issued a joint statement, expressing its commitment to leveraging its know-how and individual missions as research universities to formally support the G7 in its engagement with important issues by offering advice and promoting concrete action.
It was further officially decided at this year's presidential summit that the 2023 U7+ Presidential Summit will be hosted at Keio University, representing Japan and its universities in the same year that the G7 Summit is set to take place in Japan.
