On April 28, 2022 (JST), Times Higher Education (THE) published its 2022 edition ofTHE Impact Rankings.TheTHE Impact Rankingswere first released in 2019 as a way of evaluating universities around the world, with the particular aim of measuring their impact on global societies through their achievements within the United Nation’s “Sustainable Development Goals” (SDGs). 1,406 institutions from 106 countries and regions participated in the 2022 rankings, marking the fourth edition of this publication.
Keio University achieved top 100 rankings in the world for the following six SDGs.
Goal 1: No Poverty 49th
Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation 41st
Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities 87th
Goal 15: Life on Land 98th
Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions 16th
Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals 94th
Furthermore, Keio University was within the 101-200 bracket for the overall global rankings. Out of Japanese universities, Keio was ranked third behind Hokkaido University (10th) and Kyoto University (19th) and was first among all of Japan's participating private universities.
