On Wednesday, April 27, a lecture series titled "The Liberal Arts of Information," themed "The Light and Shadow of Information" and hosted by the Keio Research Center for the Liberal Arts, was held at Hiyoshi Campus. President Kohei Itoh took the stage and gave a lecture titled "Don't Be Swayed by Information, Lead the World to Peace!"
In his lecture, President Itoh explained the value of "information," the main theme of the event, while presenting a vision of the world shaped by anticipated technological advancements in the near future. Citing news stories familiar to students, he stressed the need to acquire valuable information, illustrating the importance of information in the formation of nations and religions and the significance of having the necessary information when creating rules in today's global world. He concluded by encouraging the students to become individuals who can make sound judgments based on information they have paid the price to acquire themselves, rather than being manipulated by the flood of information in modern society.
During the Q&A session that followed the lecture, students asked a variety of information-related questions concerning topics such as the influence of social media and rules for handling information, leading to a lively exchange. Many students were seen eagerly taking notes on President Kohei Itoh's answers.
