The purpose of this event, which began in 1996, is to give back to the community through the sharing of the achievements (seeds) of the advanced research activities conducted at Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC), and to further develop industry-government-academia collaboration. As in 2020, the event was held online this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The motif of this year's 26th ORF was "Re: cross." In addition to exhibitions, panels, and SFC's signature research project presentations, Cisco Systems G.K., a platinum sponsor of the event, shared a discussion titled, "How will the digital change society? Taking on the challenges of DX from the perspective of digital administration." Also, on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 23, a special panel, "Re: cross LIVE" became a venue for alumni and professors active in various fields to engage one another online about their respective activities and ideas for society.
