On Wednesday, November 10, President Kohei Ito took the stage at Hiyoshi Campus as part of the lecture series "Information Literacy," hosted by the Keio Research Center for the Liberal Arts, and gave a lecture to students, faculty, and staff titled "The Pursuit of Ideals as Keio Students."
In his lecture, he traced the history of the remarkable recent evolution of computers while explaining his own specialty, quantum computing, its current status, and the future of computers. He also looked back on his own student life and study abroad experiences, touching on the valuable lessons he learned from going out into the world and stressing the importance of connecting with it. Finally, he offered words of encouragement to the students, urging them to become global leaders who can imaginatively apply their academic knowledge, so that in 50 years, they can be proud of the society they have created.
In the Q&A session following the lecture, a lively exchange took place as students asked questions on a wide range of topics, from what to be mindful of in relationships with others to the ideal future for Keio University and the relationship between universities and society.
