The SFC Open Research Forum (ORF) 2020 was held online over the period from Monday, March 1 to Friday, March 12, 2021.

The ORF is usually held in November each year for the purpose of further developing industry-government-academia collaboration and giving back the outcomes (seeds) of advanced research at Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) to society; however, due to the impact of COVID-19, the event was hosted online for the 2020 academic year.

This year's theme for the 25th ORF was "Super Fusion," and in addition to exhibitions, sessions, and pitches, the SFC Open Research Forum "Open Experiments"—8 experimental dialogues in pursuit of new learning in the era of "deep fakes"—were livestreamed on March 12, the final day of the event.

The online exhibitions introduced the projects of 52 groups presenting their research at the event, while in the online pitches, 5 groups used SFC as a stage to introduce and show the appeal of their research through a variety of methods. In addition, 9 sessions were held by laboratories at SFC, and passionate debates ensued.

For the "Open Experiments," the livestreams were taken advantage of to conduct public experiments, including questionnaires using social media, facilitating a two-way dialogue.
