The Keio University Baseball Club won the 2021 Spring Tokyo Big6 Baseball League, claiming their 38th title and first overall victory in three seasons.
The Baseball Club, whose victory had already been confirmed in the previous week, faced into the "sokeisen" (Waseda-Keio Baseball Game) looking to tie up their league matches on Saturday, May 29 and Sunday, May 30. In the first round on Saturday, May 29, even with Waseda opening the scoring, three runs from Keio in the top of the 4th inning successfully turned the tables, and the team was able to hold on to its lead to secure a 3-2 victory. Keio again found themselves trailing Waseda in the second round game on the following day, Sunday, May 30, and while they continued to create openings till the end, the ultimate result saw Keio narrowly lose 2-4.
Kosuke Morita (4th year, Faculty of Business and Commerce) took the award for the Best Earned Run Average in the Spring Championship, and a total of three Keio players were singled out in the Tokyo Big6 Baseball League's best nine: Shogo Fukui (catcher; 4th year, Faculty of Environment and Information Studies), who was being commended for the third time, and Shota Masui (pitcher: 3rd year, Faculty of Policy Management) and Haruto Asahi (shortstop; 3rd year, Faculty of Policy Management), who were both being honored for the first time.
