Professor Kohei Itoh of the Faculty of Science and Technology Named Next President of Keio University

With the current president's term of office coming to an end on May 27, the Keio University Board of Councillors has selected Professor Kohei Itoh of the Faculty of Science and Technology as the next president at a meeting held on April 26.
The next president's term of office will be for 4 years from May 28, 2021, to May 27, 2025.
Short biography of the next president Kohei Itoh
Born in 1965, Professor Itoh is currently 55 years of age and holds a PhD in engineering. After graduating from the Keio University Faculty of Science and Technology in 1989, he studied at the University of California, Berkeley, where he received his doctoral degree in 1994. He then joined the Keio University Faculty of Science and Technology, working as an instructor and assistant professor before becoming a professor in 2007. From April 2017 to March 2019, he served as the dean of the Faculty and Graduate School of Science and Technology.
Professor Itoh is the research supervisor for the "Quantum State Control and Functionalization" research area of the Japan Science and Technology Agency's (JST) Precursory Research for Embryonic Science and Technology (PRESTO) program and the quantum information technology program director for MEXT Q-LEAP, the Quantum Leap Flagship Program of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
Professor Itoh's areas of specialization are solid-state physics, quantum computers, electronic materials, nanotechnology, and semiconductor isotope engineering.
