The government has declared a state of emergency.
Keio University already announced its own emergency measures on April 3
based on the domestic situation regarding infections by COVID-19 (coronavirus
disease) in consideration of the need to prioritize preventing the spread of
infection, protecting the health and safety of its students, faculty and staff
members, and related parties, as well as to ensure the university can continue
its educational, research, and healthcare activities hereafter.
However, in the light of the declaration of a state of emergency now made by
the government, the initial shutdown period for university campuses has been
revised as follows.
Period: From April 7 (Tues.) to May 6 (Wed.) (original closure planned until April 20 [Mon.])
Measures:
1. Entry to and use of the facilities on each campus is in principle prohibited.
2. Each office will in principle be closed (excluding Shinanomachi Campus/Keio
University Hospital).
Although what is required more than anything is for everyone to act calmly
based on good commonsense and individual awareness to prevent the spread
of infections, Keio University has had no other choice than to reach this
decision in order to fulfil its mission and social responsibility.
We kindly ask you all for your understanding and cooperation.
There are no changes to the academic calendar. Although classes will not be
held face-to-face for the duration of the shutdown period for university
campuses, classes will be conducted online from the start of classes scheduled
for Thursday, April 30. Please refer to the following websites regarding
