Mr. Andy Anson, the new CEO of the British Olympic Association (BOA), made a courtesy visit to President Haseyama at Keio’s Mita Campus on November 5. He was joined by Mr. Shahab Uddin, the Director of Legal at British Olympic Association. Also in attendance from the Keio side was Vice-President Naoki Watanabe, who is in charge of the Olympics and Paralympics, and Vice-President Shinnosuke Obi, who oversees International Collaboration.
Mr. Anson, who was appointed as the CEO of the BOA in June of this year, used the opportunity to express his gratitude for Keio University’s cooperation and support over the past couple of years since the BOA and Keio signed a partnership agreement in 2017 to have Keio host British Olympic athletes for their Tokyo 2020 pre-games training camp. The athletes and staff who already spent time at Keio’s Hiyoshi Campus have been impressed with the facilities as well as the hospitality they received during their stay. President Haseyama in turn thanked the BOA for creating opportunities for members of the Keio University Athletic Association to interact with British athletes, trainers, and staff. Furthermore, faculty members at the Keio University Hospital have been given the invaluable opportunity to learn about best medical practices during the Olympics by visiting their counterparts in the UK, who shared what they learned during the London 2012 Games.
