On Saturday, January 10, 2026, the 21st White Coat Ceremony was held at the Kitasato Memorial Hall on the Shinanomachi Campus.
The White Coat Ceremony is a ceremony for fourth-year students (108 students of the 107th class) who will begin their clinical clerkships this January. It is intended to help them reaffirm their sincerity toward patients and renew their resolve as aspiring physicians.
During the ceremony, Toru Takebayashi, Dean of the School of Medicine, Koichi Fukunaga, Director of the Hospital, and Junzo Takeda, President of the School of Medicine Sanshikai, spoke about the importance of listening to patients' voices and making judgments with deep powers of observation as they begin their clinical training. They offered words of guidance and encouragement for their journey as medical professionals.
After a message video from faculty members of various departments produced by the 107th class was shown, the white coats were presented. As part of their professionalism training, the students of the 107th class recited the "Oath" they had composed themselves.
Wearing their brand-new white coats embroidered with their names, the students took a new step forward, aiming to become physicians trusted by patients, with a spirit of compassion and service.
107th Class Oath
We, the 107th class,
With high aspirations and passion in our hearts,
Will walk the endless path of medical sciences,
Continuing our tireless study and challenges.
Offering respect and gratitude for every encounter,
We will face patients with sincerity,
And we swear to become dignified leaders in medical sciences,
Equipped with wisdom and virtue.
