Support for International Research Activities

Since 1996, the Keio University Medical Science Fund has annually honored prominent researchers from Japan and abroad who have made outstanding and creative research achievements contributing to the development of medical sciences and life sciences, awarding them the Keio Medical Science Prize. In the past, 12 recipients of this prize have gone on to win the Nobel Prize, making it a unique recognition system among Japanese universities. Award ceremonies and commemorative lectures are held at the Keio University Shinanomachi Campus.

Additionally, the fund provides research grant programs for young researchers and students (maximum award of 3 million yen per project, total of 10 million yen), as well as support for short-term study abroad expenses and travel expenses for international conferences. Many young researchers and students utilize these systems in addition to government and private grants and subsidies to conduct fulfilling research activities.
