What is "Gan-pro"?
Keio University has participated in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) subsidized projects aimed at training medical professionals to lead future cancer care: the "Cancer Professional Training Plan (2007–2011)," the "Cancer Professional Training Infrastructure Promotion Plan (2012–2016)," and the "'Cancer Professional' Training Plan for Diverse New Needs (2017–2021)" (commonly known as "Gan-pro"). Through these, we have established and promoted various courses to train experts who lead the development of advanced cancer care. Starting from the 2023 academic year, the "Next-Generation Cancer Professional Training Plan" has launched, and this project will cultivate human resources capable of addressing the challenges emerging in the field of cancer care.
Furthermore, to curb the increasing number of cancer patients, we have included preventive medicine applying AI technology as a theme. While promoting personalized medicine based on genomic diagnosis, we will foster the development of individuals capable of creating new treatment methods, incorporating the perspective of regulatory science.
