Students are dispatched to our Graduate School's partner law firms.
Academic Year 2024 Placements: 91 students at 67 firms.
Houterasu
Students participate in an externship program hosted by the headquarters of Houterasu (the Japan Legal Support Center). Law offices of Houterasu nationwide cooperate in this program.
Academic Year 2024 Placements: 14 students at 8 offices.
Government Agencies
Students participate in the Kasumigaseki Internship for Law School Students, hosted by the National Personnel Authority. Numerous government ministries and agencies participate in this program.
Academic Year 2024 Placements: 4 students at 2 agencies.
Corporations
Students are dispatched to corporations that partner with our Graduate School. A list of participating corporations is scheduled to be released in mid-May.
Academic Year 2024 Placements: 10 students at 10 corporations.
Student-Initiated Placements
For student-initiated externships, if our Graduate School determines that a host institution found by the student is a valuable training opportunity, the externship may be eligible for academic credit based on its training content. Eligible host institutions are generally domestic law firms, government agencies, NGOs, and similar organizations (excluding corporations) that are deemed suitable for practical legal training. In the case of a law firm, the supervising attorney must have at least five years of practical experience. Please note that students must obtain informal consent from the host institution before applying.

Overseas
The overseas externship program is offered in the spring semester (with training during spring break) and the fall semester (with training during summer break). The university may provide a subsidy to cover a portion of travel and accommodation expenses. For more details, please refer to the course syllabus, bulletin boards, and course registration guides.
