Are All Keio Students "Riajuu" (Living Fulfilling Lives)?

For me, it's both. I think personality is the most important, but you don't know that at first, right? That's why I think the first impression is important as a trigger to become interested in that person.

 For me, it's personality. When you become a grandfather, your looks will change, but personality is the way that person has lived their life, so I don't think it changes that easily.

Whether it's looks or personality, are there any non-negotiable conditions? For me, it's being able to "respect" them. I feel like nothing starts without that.

At Keio, there are people doing internships from their first year, and many people are serious not just about studying but also about their careers. So, I feel like there are many people I can respect.

True. How about M's boyfriend?

My boyfriend is also working hard at his internship. Even during exam periods, he goes to work five days a week and handles his exams too, so I think he's really amazing.

For me, it's an 8. Of course my own career is important, but I think it's good to have a source of emotional support. Meeting once in a while is enough, but in my heart, I want to be thinking about the other person that much.

I'm a 7.5. I've been dating my partner for about a year now, and I think it's been a fun time and a time where I could grow as a person. So romance is important. However, there are many other important things besides romance, like career, friends, and part-time jobs, so I definitely don't want to become someone who is "only about their boyfriend."

If an internship that leads to early selection and your partner's birthday overlapped, which would everyone choose?

My partner's birthday. If the internship overlapped, I might think, "Maybe it was just fate." If it overlapped with the birthday of someone I love this much, then maybe I wasn't meant to be with this company.

Wow. Such a romantic.

I'd choose the internship. I chose the internship, but the one I value is my girlfriend. Going to an internship and getting a job at a good company means walking a good life ahead with that person. If they can't understand that, I'd think they are only looking at the present.

I'd feel sorry for my girlfriend, but I'd also choose the internship. I'd rather prioritize an internship that could significantly affect my life over a partner I might break up with in the future.

I'm the same. Because I want to value my career, I don't want to have regrets. A partner's birthday is an important day, but an internship is also a precious opportunity, so I feel like using a partner's birthday as a reason to give that up is wrong. Conversely, if my partner were in the same situation, I'd tell them, "I want you to go to the internship."

Looking around, I feel like there are many people who prioritize their careers.

I think many Keio students enter with their own personal values. I feel that results in a mindset that emphasizes career.

Okay, one more. If you found someone you're interested in, but you have to go study abroad in 6 months, which would you choose: romance or studying abroad? Would you confess?

I think I'd choose romance. Of course, the period we can't meet is long, but I'm confident we could make it work. I think it's a bit sad to give up on romance because of studying abroad.

I also don't think there's a need to give up because of studying abroad. Even if we end up breaking up, that's the result of both of us taking a step forward. I wouldn't engage in a romance that I'd give up on just for studying abroad.

Even for the one waiting, there might be a sense of excitement like "being shown a new world." I don't think it's all negative.

True. From the perspective of the one waiting, seeing the other person working hard might be good motivation, and from the perspective of the one going, it might be a chance to grow into a more attractive partner.

Looking around, how many people are in relationships?

There aren't many opportunities to talk about romance, so I have the impression there aren't many around me. I think there are more people enjoying their own lives or club activities.

Around me, it's like about 50% don't have a partner and about 30% do.

In my experience, about 40% have a partner and about 60% don't. Personally, I feel like Keio students, rather than dating someone just for the sake of it, are more likely to have the attitude of having a proper romance when they find a good person.

From a male perspective, I think it works in our favor. I went to a Coming-of-Age ceremony this year, and I was quite celebrated, so to speak.

Yeah. I think one of the reasons I got messages was because I got into Keio.

Did it become an advantage in romance in the sense that "there are many good people"?

I don't think you're popular just because of the title "Keio student," but in that sense, of course, yes. Many people entered with their own values and have knowledge and education. I feel like many people also know what kind of clothes suit them.

True, in the sense that they have faced themselves and worked hard, I feel like there are many attractive people.

That's true.

I think there are many good people within Keio, but from people outside Keio, I'm often told, "Aren't there a lot of playboys at Keio?" or "Be careful." So, I sometimes think we might actually not be popular.

Before I entered, I also thought, "I will definitely not date a Keio boy." Because I had an image of them being playboys. But once I actually got in, while there are people like that, I feel like there are quite a few people I find "attractive."

After actually entering Keio, did you think there were many so-called "Keio Boys"?

You mean playboys?

True, what is the definition of a "Keio Boy"? I had an image of "playing around" and "playboy."

For me, it's "rich kids." Also, returnees.

Maybe "playboy" is the old image of a "Keio Boy." K, do you think you're a "Keio Boy"?

I think I have zero "Keio Boy" elements. In my mind, boys who work hard at internships, so-called "high-spec guys," are the image of a "Keio Boy."

Then let's call playboys "Old" Keio Boys, and high-spec guys who work hard at internships and such "New" Keio Boys, and let's aim to be "New" Keio Boys.
