Subjects Offered

This section introduces the courses offered in the Major in Civil Law and the Major in Public Law of the Graduate School of Law.

Master's Program

For academic fields such as constitutional law, criminal law, civil law, commercial law, legal philosophy, and foreign law, two types of courses are offered. Advanced lectures allow students to intensively deepen their research in a specific area of expertise, while joint seminars involve multiple faculty members to examine topics from a wide range of diverse perspectives. In addition, project courses are offered with the aim of cultivating perspectives for examining contemporary issues from multiple angles.

Doctoral Program

For each academic field, such as constitutional law, criminal law, civil law, commercial law, legal philosophy, and foreign law, two types of courses are offered: special seminars, which allow students to explore themes in their specialized area more deeply, and joint seminars, which are also offered in the Master's Program and involve multiple faculty members to examine topics from a wide range of diverse perspectives. Project courses, which aim to cultivate perspectives for examining contemporary issues from multiple angles, are also offered in the doctoral program. Furthermore, in order to ensure steady progress toward the completion of the doctoral dissertation, “Guidance for Dissertation 1,” “Guidance for Dissertation 2,” and “Guidance for Dissertation 3” are offered as courses.
