Lecture Overview:
In this lecture, we will welcome Professor Jun Yamana of the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies, The University of Tokyo, who will give a presentation titled "Pedagogy of Memory: Its Theory and Practice." Professor Yamana specializes in the philosophy of education and the history of educational thought, and his research includes the concept of Bildung and its translation issues, the architectural issues of cities and schools, and the theory and practice of the "New Education" movement. In recent years, along with developing the concept for a new field called the pedagogy of memory and remembrance (memory pedagogy), he has been conducting theoretical and practical research on the memory, remembrance, and transmission of historical events known as disasters. In this lecture, in addition to his research activities to date, we will hear about Professor Yamana's future plans and concepts.
