Lecture Overview
Junko Sekine is an actor with the Shizuoka Performing Arts Center (SPAC). In addition to performing on SPAC's stage, she is also a director. She presides over the theater company Otonoya, where she develops "musical story" activities that combine live music with one-person plays. In this lecture, she will discuss the power of theater in relation to the community. Amidst various initiatives such as applied theater, theater company outreach, community theater, and ethnotheater, Ms. Sekine will introduce her own work. Together with the participants, we will explore the possibilities of theatrical expression.
