Summary
For the past decade, numerous projects have been developed both in Japan and internationally that utilize crowdsourcing, a mechanism for accomplishing initiatives requiring significant human and time resources—such as the digitization of materials and metadata entry—by leveraging the power of a large, undefined group of people. This presentation will focus on and explain microtask crowdsourcing, a method that breaks down problems into smaller tasks, and will serve as a forum to consider the use of crowdsourcing in the library field.
