Exploring care for patients in life-threatening situations and their families

Preventive care for PICS (Post Intensive Care Syndrome)

The value of nurses who practice critical care

Introduction to Field

Critical care nursing aims to improve the quality of life and well-being (QOL) of patients of all ages, in a wide range of treatment and therapy settings including critical care nursing, acute care nursing, perioperative care nursing, emergency nursing, home care, and end-of-life care, and in all stages and conditions of illness, by providing highly specialized nursing care to address life-threatening situations.

With advancements in medical technology, changes in the healthcare system, further promotion of community-based integrated care systems, and the need for multidisciplinary collaboration, the environment surrounding patients in life-threatening situations and their families is expected to change even more in the future. Therefore, in order to provide highly specialized nursing care, it is necessary to continuously explore the nursing needs that arise in these situations.

Furthermore, there is another reason why you should choose this graduate program.

In the field of cardiovascular diseases, which are the second leading cause of death in Japan, the definition of diseases and treatment methods are changing as causative genes are being identified, and guidelines have been revised.

It is expected that progress will continue to be made in identifying the causative genes of various diseases. As these causative genes are identified, treatment options will change, the information provided to patients and their families will become more complex, and decision-making support will also change.

Our graduate program has a curriculum in genetic nursing, so we believe we can cultivate personnel who will be responsible for research and practice in a new paradigm of critical care nursing, including the latest knowledge of genomic information and genetic nursing, from a perspective not found in other graduate program.

Message

Let's work together to consider how to provide care for the suffering that follows life-threatening situations like PICS.

Furthermore, in the field of cardiovascular medicine, the use of genetic testing in routine clinical practice is increasing.

In order for patients and their families to make informed decisions about how to apply new information to their lives, nurses are required to possess the latest knowledge and continuously provide care from the perspectives of primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention.

Why not deepen your learning and become a pioneer in a new field at graduate program?
