Policy on Graduation Certification and Degree Conferral (Diploma Policy)
Educational Goals
Based on the Policy on Graduation Certification and Degree Conferral (Diploma Policy) of Keio University, the program aims to train individuals who can be active as experts in medical management in the fields of practice, research, or education. This is achieved not only by having students acquire advanced specialized knowledge in health, medical care, welfare, and sports, but also by developing their management capabilities. These capabilities include the insight to identify health issues faced by individuals and society; the logical thinking skills to infer underlying structures and causal relationships and formulate them as hypotheses; the analytical skills to test these hypotheses in a universally convincing manner; and the communication skills to share and implement the derived conclusions. The program also cultivates leadership to guide society, based on a high sense of professional ethics and consideration for diversity and multiculturalism.
Furthermore, recognizing the demand for health, medical, and welfare institutions and related businesses to provide higher quality services efficiently and to offer detailed responses tailored to the individual needs of service recipients, the field of medical management aims to foster individuals capable of researching, planning, and implementing management strategies to meet these demands. The goal is to develop professionals who can make new discoveries and unique academic contributions that transcend existing knowledge.
In addition, a Doctor of Philosophy (Medical Management) degree is conferred upon students who have fulfilled the prescribed requirements of the curriculum.
