About the Program
The Graduate School of Economics and Brandeis University jointly offer a double master’s degree program in economics, allowing qualified students to earn two master’s degrees in the field. Participants in this program are expected to develop not only advanced expertise in economics but also a global perspective and international experience. Upon completion of the program, graduates benefit from a wide range of career opportunities.

About Brandeis University
Brandeis University is a private research university located in Waltham, Massachusetts, in the United States. It is widely recognized as one of the leading institutions of higher education and has produced many distinguished alumni. Participants in this program are enrolled in the Brandeis International Business School, where they pursue Master’s degree in International Economics and Finance (MAief). MAief at Brandeis is a highly regarded graduate program that can be entered without prior professional experience. Under a well-structured curriculum, students gain specialized knowledge in international finance, economics and business, while developing practical skills applicable to real-world settings.
Note: Keio University Graduate School of Economics also accepts exchange students from Brandeis University.
Eligibility for the Program
Applicants must meet the following requirements in order to apply for this program.
A TOEFL iBT score of 100 or higher, or an IELTS score of 7.0 or higher.
A strong academic record.
Course Requirements
Credit Transfer
Students must earn a total of 16 credits at Keio University from the following courses, which are eligible for credit transfer to Brandeis University.
Intermediate Microeconomics (4 credits)
Intermediate Macroeconomics (4 credits)
Course in Econometrics* (4 credits)
An elective course approved by Brandeis (4 credits)
*This can include "Statistics II" and "Introduction to Econometrics" offered by the Faculty of Economics.
Graduate Courses
Applicants must have completed, or plan to complete, at least three courses (six credits) taught in English by the second semester at the Graduate School of Economics at Keio prior to their departure to the United States.
Applicants may not apply simultaneously to both the Double Degree Program with Brandeis University and the CEMS MIM Program. There are significant differences in eligibility requirements and application documentーparticularly with regard to language requirementsーbetween these two programs. Applicants are therefore advised to carefully review the application guidelines.
Application to Brandeis University
During the study period abroad, students are required to pay tuition to Brandeis University. However, participants in this program will receive a 25% discount on annual tuition.
One letter of recommendation from the academic advisor is required.
In addition to the scholarships available to participants of this program (see above), applicants who wish to apply for other scholarships offered by Brandeis University are advised to submit Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score.
