I am majoring in accounting under the supervision of Professor Eiko Arata. In particular, because I developed a strong interest in institutional design within the accounting field through my own professional experience, I am conducting research in graduate school using a law and economics approach to clarify the fundamental structure of accounting standard systems. As the scope of accounting research expands with the diversification and complexity of business, my goal is to help provide a solid logical foundation that contributes to the development of new research areas and the advancement of practice by elucidating the basic mechanisms of the accounting standard system.
The Graduate School of Business and Commerce provides a flexible and high-quality research environment tailored to each student's research theme. In small-group seminars led by professors who are world-class researchers, I am able to gain many insights through active discussions. When conducting interdisciplinary research, there are opportunities to receive advice from professors in various fields, and I feel that this accumulation of learning leads to the deepening of my research. A support system for conducting advanced and specialized research is also well-established, including an extensive collection of books and databases that provide access to academic papers from around the world.
Research activities are a continuous series of long-term, steady explorations, and I often feel a sense of stagnation due to my own lack of knowledge. However, supported by the warm and enthusiastic guidance of my supervisor, I am confident that the Graduate School of Business and Commerce, where one can sincerely engage with research challenges, is an ideal place for research that meets the inquisitive spirit of everyone aspiring to go to graduate school.
