Mita Philosophy Society

The Mita Philosophy Society is an academic organization founded in 1925 to promote research and mutual understanding of philosophy and related sciences, including philosophy, ethics, sociology, psychology, pedagogy, and other fields. Membership comprises full-time faculty of the Faculty of Letters and the Graduate School of Letters, undergraduate and graduate students, and others who share the society's aims. The society publishes its journal, Philosophy, twice a year, and hosts research seminars and lectures as part of its commitment to sharing philosophical insights from diverse perspectives.

Mita Historical Society

The Mita Historical Society is an academic society based in the Faculty of Letters at Keio University, operated primarily by the four history majors: Japanese History, Asian History, Western History, and Archaeology and Ethnology. Its origins date to the founding of the Department of History in 1910. By 1915, the Department was organizing field trips and research seminars. In 1921, activities expanded when faculty of the Department of History founded the Chijinkai, a research seminar encompassing anthropology, ethnology, archaeology, folklore, and human geography. That same year, the society inaugurated its journal, Shigaku, which continues to be published in multiple issues per year. An annual conference is held each June, with divisional sessions by major in the morning and a symposium in the afternoon.

The Keio Society of Arts and Letters

The Keio Society of Arts and Letters was founded in 1950, centered on faculty and students of the Faculty of Letters at Keio University, with the aim of promoting cross-disciplinary research in literature, linguistics, and the arts. Junzaburo Nishiwaki, a professor in the Faculty of Letters, served as its inaugural chair. The society publishes its journal, Geibun-Kenkyu: Journal of Arts and Letters, twice a year, and holds research presentations in the spring semester and a symposium in the fall semester.

Mita Society for Library and Information Science

The Mita Society for Library and Information Science is dedicated to advancing research and promoting awareness in the field of library and information science. Originally established in 1963 as the Mita Society of Library Science, the organization was later renamed the Mita Society for Library and Information Science to reflect its evolving interests and expanding scope of activities. The society also publishes the journal Library and Information Science.
