Lecture Overview:
For this lecture, we will welcome Professor Jun Yamana from the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies at The University of Tokyo. He will give a presentation titled "Pedagogy of Memory: Its Theory and Practice." Professor Yamana specializes in the philosophy of education and the history of educational thought. His research covers topics such as the concept of Bildung and its translation issues, the architectural relationship between cities and schools, and the theory and practice of the "New Education" movement. In recent years, he has been developing a new field, the pedagogy of memory and remembrance (memory pedagogy), while also conducting theoretical and practical research on the memory, recollection, and transmission of historical events referred to as disasters. In this lecture, we will hear about his past research activities as well as his future plans.
