Presentation 1: Challenges in the School Library Field, Considered Through "For Information Education and School Libraries to Connect"

Abstract: In March 2022, the speaker authored a book on themes in information education that he believes the school library industry needs to address. Although school libraries involve various fields and stakeholders, their connection with information education, which should be a closely related field, remains insufficient. In this presentation, while discussing the editorial intent and background of the book, the speaker will address the challenges facing the school library community and explain why this "connection" is necessary.

Presentation 2: The Current State and Future of Information Education and the Potential for Utilizing School Libraries

Speaker: Choshin Nakazono (Faculty of International Studies, Reitaku University)

Abstract: The ICT environment and information education in schools are undergoing significant changes, such as the provision of one device per student under the GIGA School Program and the addition of "Information" as a subject in university entrance exams. On the other hand, the term "information" often refers only to ICT, and the connection with diverse resources is being overlooked. This presentation will examine how school libraries, which have traditionally handled information in school education, can engage with and mutually enhance future information education.
