Faculty of Letters, Major in Education

In the Major in Education, we examine human development from multiple perspectives, looking beyond school education to its broader role in society and culture. By exploring the history, philosophy, and social context of education, we confront the fundamental question, "What is education?" As a mid-sized major of about 60 students, we enjoy close relationships between students and faculty. A unique appeal of this program is the opportunity to deepen our understanding of humanity by sharing and refining ideas through discussions and debates.
