The Major in English and American Literature is a program where tradition and innovation coexist, offering a broader range of learning than its name might suggest. We offer a wide variety of classes that go beyond literary history, the history of the English language, and the analysis of literary works. Students engage with the culture, society, human thought, and activities behind language from various perspectives. The faculty's areas of expertise are extremely diverse, and a major attraction of this program is that you are guaranteed to make new discoveries in every class.
