What is your current job?
At Cygames, I work as part of the Game Master team, where my duties center on fraud prevention and analysis for our released apps.
When do your studies in the Faculty of Letters prove useful in your work?
I find that my studies in the Faculty of Letters have been useful in various situations where I am required to put things into writing, such as reporting to my superiors or summarizing meetings. The ability to structure texts, which I acquired through my studies in various fields like literature, sociology, and psychology, and by tackling assignments, has been very helpful now that I am in the workforce.
Why did you choose the Faculty of Letters at Keio University?
In my first year, I was able to study a variety of subjects as general education courses, such as mathematics, psychology, and sociology. The year before choosing a major gave me time to think about what field of study I was truly interested in. I found that very appealing, which is why I chose the Faculty of Letters.
What are the advantages of being in the Faculty of Letters when job hunting?
I am often asked what I focused on most during my university years, and I was well-received for simply talking about the research I had done. The fact that I was able to conduct research in the Faculty of Letters that delved into my passions, and that I could write about it with a skill that was appreciated—I believe this is an experience unique to the Faculty of Letters, and I'm glad I was there.
To those considering entering the Faculty of Letters
I don't want you to think, "Literature has no future." While learning jitsugaku (science) is important, the Faculty of Letters is where you can learn what humanity has thought, what kind of culture it has cultivated, and under what ideologies societies have been formed. In the sense of becoming a person who can be an active member of society based on this understanding, I hope you will pursue the kind of learning that is possible in the Faculty of Letters.
