Research Overview
How do cells coordinate (communicate) with each other and self-organize across hierarchical levels? How is biodiversity, such as organismal transparency, acquired? I am also working to understand mechanisms such as metamorphosis and the development of motor behavior. My research uses the ascidian, a chordate model organism. The ascidian is a simple organism that encapsulates the essence of chordates. By taking advantage of it as a model organism, I am addressing big questions in biology.
