Research Overview

This laboratory focuses on transcendental number theory to determine transcendence and algebraic independence of values of complex analytic functions, being a significant and difficult problem in mathematics and having many applications to other branches including algebraic number theory. Mainly studied is the theory of the solutions of certain functional equations called Mahler functions, which often appear as generating functions of various sequences representing mathematical phenomena.

Specialty

Transcendental number theory, Analytic number theory
