Research Overview
My research examines the transformation of Arab society—particularly Egypt—from the late 19th to the early 20th century under the influence of modern Western European knowledge and institutions. I am currently conducting research on the thought and behavior of a new middle class produced by the modern education system, drawing on Arabic-language periodicals published in interwar Egypt.
