Research Overview

My research primarily focuses on modern German art. I emphasise and independently explore how social reformist thought and the aesthetic act of artistic creation uniquely converged during the transition from the 19th to the 20th century in Germany. This convergence is particularly evident in the circumstances surrounding art during the Weimar Republic period. Rather than existing in isolation, art, architecture, landscape design and gardening, design, and even physical movement (such as gymnastics and dance) reveal complex interconnections that emerge with a sense of inevitability. The Bauhaus is significant in this context. I am advancing my research by re-examining existing methodologies from the perspectives of art and design studies.
