Lecture Summary

Momosuke Fukuzawa, the "King of Electric Power," and Yasuzaemon Matsunaga, the "Demon of Electric Power," both left a significant mark on Japan's electric power industry. Their association, which began with Yukichi Fukuzawa's customary morning walks, led to the establishment of two major electric power companies, Daido Electric Power and Toho Electric Power, through joint ventures such as Marusan Shokai and Fukumatsu Shokai. This lecture will explore the intersecting thoughts and feelings of Momosuke and Matsunaga during that time, against the backdrop of Keio University's business network.
