Five-Year BA/MA Program with Sciences Po

The Faculty of Economics has an agreement with Sciences Po (Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris) for a combined BA/MA Program. Students enrolled in the Faculty of Economics, including PEARL students, are eligible to apply. Students who satisfy the graduation requirements of both institutions will be awarded a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from Keio and a master’s degree from Sciences Po. The actual degree awarded by Sciences Po will be either Master's in International Business and Sustainability or Master's in Finance and Strategy, depending on which program the student applies for and is accepted into. Both are English-language programs.

*Type A/B students refers to students of Faculty of Economics who enroll in April and take courses taught primarily in Japanese.

About Sciences Po

Founded in 1875, Sciences Po is one of France’s Grandes Écoles. It is renowned for having produced numerous presidents, prime ministers, bureaucrats, and business leaders in France and as well as leaders of international organizations around the world. Since the conclusion of a comprehensive exchange agreement with Keio University in October 1987, the two institutions have actively engaged in exchanges of students, faculty, and researchers.

Eligibility and Application Guidelines

Applicants must satisfy all of the following four requirements at the time they apply to this program:

  • Applicants must be students enrolled in the Faculty of Economics and have successfully completed five semesters (for PEARL students) and six semesters (for Type A/B students);

  • have a TOEFL iBT score of 100 or IELTS 7.0 or more*i);

  • a minimum Grade Point Average (cumulative GPA) of 2.8; and

  • expected to acquire a total of 114 credits (for PEARL students*ii) and 126 credits (for Type A/B students), which can be counted towards the Keio graduation requirement by the time they start the master’s program at Sciences Po.

i) PEARL students are exempted from the English requirement.

ii) Students must complete 12 Core Course credits and earn sufficient Advanced Courses credits while at Keio. When transferring credits earned at Sciences Po to Keio, no more than 6 credits may be recognized as Advanced Courses credits.

Screening

Applicants will be evaluated by their application documents and an interview.

Selection Schedule

Students enrolled in their 3rd year are eligible for selection for this program.

Applicants who are pre-selected by Keio University will proceed to the final selection conducted by Sciences Po.

Academic Fees

Students will pay their tuition fees to the institution where they are studying, that is, to Keio for their first 3 (or 3.5 years), and to Sciences Po for the last 2 years of the Program.
